Since SPI’s inception in 2016, a community of scientists, partners, artists and audiences has grown, shaped by shared fieldwork, projects, events, networks and, ultimately, memories. To mark SPI’s 10th Anniversary, we are launching an Open Call for Memories and we invite you to contribute to a collective retrospective of the past decade.
We invite you to share your cherished memories of SPI by 31 August 2026.
Your contributions will be curated and showcased during the anniversary celebration on 9 September at NODA BCVS in Sion, and on SPI’s website and communication channels.
You can participate by:
sharing a memory and sending us
- a short text or anecdote (max. 200 words);
- photographs and/or videos, ideally with a short caption and copyright mentions.
If helpful, you may wish to reflect on
- a memorable moment in the field or during an SPI project;
- a collaboration or encounter made possible by SPI;
- a moment that shaped your relationship with polar research.
sending us an anniversary video message
- You may send a short video message (max. 30 seconds) wishing SPI a happy anniversary.
- Videos can be recorded in any language.
By submitting your contribution, you confirm that you hold the rights to the submitted material and authorise SPI to use this material for internal and external communications for information, outreach and illustration through its various media channels (website, social media, newsletters).
How to submit your contribution
Please send your images and/or videos in the highest resolution possible (preferred file formats: JPG, PNG, MP4, MOV), and include the name(s) of the contributor(s) for copyright purposes in your email.
You can send your files directly to by 31 August 2026. If the files are too large to be sent by email, we invite you to share them via SwissTransfer and email us the download link.
