Published in 2026, the document "Global science for local impact. Enabling excellence and action 2026-2035" was prepared in consultation with the SPI Science and Technology Advisory Board. It outlines the guidelines that will steer SPI's actions towards successful outcomes for the 2026-2035 period.

Published in 2020, the document “Polar Science in Switzerland – proposed priorities for the SPI up to 2025 and beyond” identified strengths within the Swiss polar research landscape and outlined a way forward to grow them. It formed the basis for the SPI’s strategy by proposing the development of activities up to 2025, and beyond.
The brochure was prepared by the SPI Science and Technology Advisory Board (STAB) together with the Swiss polar science community. It was based on inputs from the discussions at the Swiss Polar Day 2018, a preparatory community consultation of 45 proposals from 11 institutions (Call for Ideas (PDF)) and the consultation of the draft text to which over 150 comments and suggestions were submitted (PDF).
