This year, Swiss Polar Class collaborated with Schulverlag plus, a Swiss publisher specialised in educational material. Together, they developed a new learning programme focused on polar regions and their significance to the global climate.
Three Poles, One World (Drei Pole, eine Welt – eine Zusammenarbeit mit Swiss Polar Class) aligns with Lehrplan 21 – the harmonised curriculum for compulsory education in the 21 German-speaking cantons in Switzerland. Through interactive, project-based tasks, students explore 17 lessons that highlight the similarities and differences between polar regions, as well as their connections to high mountains and the Swiss Alps.
As students examine the role of the poles in Earth’s climate and identify climate change challenges – both globally and in Switzerland – they are encouraged to develop their own research ideas and creative solutions.
