Lay summary
Sea-ice albedo is a high value climate variable informing on the detailed rate of sea-ice decline and the fate of sub-ice species. I will study detailed radiative-transfer properties of melting sea ice using microstructural Arctic and Antarctic sea ice samples. This will lead to substantial improvement in the model development of sea-ice albedo in both polar regions.
