Nous remontons vers l’Australie sur une mer d’huile. Depuis l’éclaircie observée à Heard Island, le temps est toujours au beau fixe. Cette atmosphère paisible est perceptible sur l’ensemble du bateau. Et même si les travaux scientifiques et prélèvements se poursuivent – avec le CTD, une trace métal rosette, des filets Neuston et bongo et le remplissage d’une cuve d’eau d’un mètre cube -, la pression est redescendue d’un cran. Bien que la température n’excède pas les trois degrés, ce 9 janvier a un goût de dimanche estival…
On our way to Australia, we are still benefiting from the beautiful and calm weather. The oily sea and sunshine are influencing the mood on board and giving the impression that we are prolonging a lazy summer week-end. Even if the air temperature did not exceed 3 degres. Yet, the scientific work and measurements are continuing and further oceanographic stations were successfully completed for two CTD stations, the trace metal rosette, Neuston and Bongo nets and the filling of a large tank of sea water.
