Aiming to strengthen the collaboration between the Canadian and Swiss scientific communities, the agreement signed in April 2023 between Université Laval (ULaval), the Institut Nordique du Québec (INQ) and the Swiss Polar Institute (SPI) offers opportunities for access to various infrastructures in northern regions:
- Access to the Canadian research icebreaker CCGS Amundsen as visiting scientists to the vessel’s annual Arctic missions;
- Access to the diversity of terrestrial and coastal northern ecozones and ecosystems in Quebec and eastern Canada thanks to the network of 9 northern research stations of the Centre for Northern Studies (CEN);
- Access to the INQ Science Complex located on the ULaval campus in Quebec City, as a logistical, scientific, and administrative outpost (as of 2026).
The submission processes are coordinated by the SPI and the INQ. As the deadlines vary depending on the infrastructure and destination, we invite all interested Swiss-based scientists and researchers to consult the agreement webpage for detailed information and we look forward to your proposals.
